MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH
INGREDIENTS
2 EGGS
PINCHES OF SALT AND PEPPER
6 SLICES STURDY WHITE BREAD, A WHITE SOUR DOUGH WOULD BE GREAT
2 TABLESPOONS YELLOW MUSTARD
2 TABLESPOONS MAYONNAISE
6 THICK SLICES OF HONEY ROASTED HAM
150G OF GRATED GRUYERE CHEESE
ADDITIONAL SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
2 TABLESPOONS BUTTER
METHOD
1. BEAT EGGS IN A SHALLOW DISH (LARGE ENOUGH TO FIT A SANDWICH) ALONG WITH A FEW PINCHES OF SALT AND PEPPER. SET ASIDE.
2. ASSEMBLE SANDWICHES, WITH MUSTARD, MAYONNAISE, HAM, CHEESE, SALT AND PEPPER TO PERSONAL PREFERENCE. IMPORTANTLY MAKE SURE THE CHEESE IS ON THE OUTSIDE SO IT IS CLOSEST TO THE BREAD WHEN YOU TOAST IT, THIS WILL HELP IT MELT.
3. HEAT SKILLET OR FRYING PAN OVER MEDIUM HEAT. ADD BUTTER; ALLOW TO MELT.
4. NOW TAKE THE SANDWICH AND COAT IN BEATEN EGG, PLACE ON TO SKILLET. COOK SANDWICHES 2-3 MINUTES ON EACH SIDE, UNTIL BROWNED TO LIKING AND CHEESE HAS MELTED.
