The star of Disney Pixar's COCO, Anthony Gonzalez, joins us to make CHAMPURRADO, a traditional Mexican drink to warm your belly up on the coldest of nights!
Did you know: the "champorado" that AJ was referring to is related to the "champurrado" we made today! In Filipino culture, the Champurrado recipe was brought to them during the galeeon trade, and over time its recipe evolved into the Champurado, which is a sweet chocolate rice porridge that is made in a very similar fashion!

RECIPE:
3 cups water
Cinnamon sticks
Anise star
1/4 cup masa harina
2 cups milk
1 disk of Ibarra chocolate
3 ounces piloncillo
Bring your water to a boil in a pot. Add your cinnamon sticks and star of anise and cover. Remove the pot from the heat and let steep for an hour.
Remove the cinnamon sticks and star of anise from the pot. Stir in your masa harina whisking while on low heat. Add in your piloncillo, ibarra chocolate, and milk. Raise the to medium and keep stirring until everything is completely dissolved and combined.
Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes. If there are still unmelted bits, you can use a sieve when serving. Serve hot and enjoy!
