STEAMED INDIAN GOOSEBERRY CHUTNEY ─ Mrs.Vahchef

Mrs.Vahchef is very fond of cooking and her Recipes are very unique and fit for busy women specially working women

This is a chutney rich in vitamin C. Here deseeded gooseberry pieces are steam cooked to make them soft and pulpy.

INGREDIENTS:

Indian gooseberry 250 gms
Garlic 1 nos
Oil 6-7 tbs
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
cumin seeds ½ tsp
Mustard seeds powder 1 tbs
Salt 4 tbs
Fenugreek powder ¼ tsp
Red chilly powder 4 tsp
Lime juice 1 tbs

METHOD:

1. Clean Indian gooseberry and wipe it with cloth.

2. Place gooseberry in a steamer and steam it, later remove seeds and cut into cubes.

3. Crush garlic with pestle.

4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, crushed garlic and saute it and switch off flame, remove from stove.

5. To it add mustard seeds powder, salt, fenugreek powder, red chilly powder and mix it and allow it rest.

6. Add Indian gooseberry and mix it. Add lime juice and mix nicely.

7. Check for seasoning and transfer into a jar and store it in refrigerator.

8. Now steamed Indian gooseberry chutney is ready to serve.
